ProDouro – Associação dos Viticultores Profissionais do Douro is a non-profit association, created in 2015 with the purpose of giving a voice to professional winegrowers in the defence of quality values and the enhancement of properties and their productions.
The Association focuses on relevant issues for viticulture in the region that, for some reason, have never been addressed with an in-depth technical vision and in an institutional manner, with the aim of filling gaps in the associative environment of the Douro Region. Its actions are based on the efficiency of resources and the complementarity of ideas for the Region, without occupying or overlapping the space of action of already existing entities.
Its aim is to analyse those issues and embrace them as “ProDouro causes” with total pragmatism and technical accuracy, providing solutions and drawing up proposals that may be disseminated among its Members.
It does not intend to be an Association with a verticalized action and with a vocation to implement solutions on the ground. It does intend to promote the merit of the solutions to the competent bodies and stimulate them to implement them for the good of the Region.
Its mission is to disseminate in the Region the result of our reflections and corresponding solutions, in the expectation that they will be adopted collectively.
It is an Association that lives off the technical and intellectual resources of its Members, who are the main contributors to the choice of themes and also the main users of the solutions found.
It is not, nor does it want to be, just another association that weighs on the accounts of its associates and feeds structures of questionable usefulness. It aims to be the voice of the professional farmers and a movement leading to the valorisation of the grape and wine of the Douro region.
It is our mission to unite all voices, gaining a bigger, louder voice with more negotiating power.
